Really really yummy. I’m a baker, and I’ve tried many many recipes. This is the perfect mix of a traditional chocolate cake and a mud cake. Not as dense as a mud cake / brownie but tastes as chocolatey and decadent. I imagine once refrigerated it will be more mudcake like. I used 10g less caster sugar in the recipe and I used half:half of the 50% and 62% dark chocolate as that is what I had on hand. I cooked the cake in an 8” tin and in a second small 4” tin (normal process for trying new recipes) and the 8” tin took at least 60mins at 150degC (I dropped the temp as my oven seems to run hot). I will try this with ganache and whipped cream!

Amazing! Made this for my son's birthday, as his request was for a chocolate cake and he loves Whittakers dark choc. The flavour, texture and appearance were wonderful, I made a double mix for a 2 tier cake with chocolate oreo buttercream. I will be making this again many more times! ❤️

Cake tastes great but it took twice as long to cook. I read it as 125ml hot water. It did make the batter very runny.

Have made this cake many a time and it’s a crowd favourite! My kids love it and I make it as a wedding cake as it works well with a solid structure! I sandwich it with a cherry compote which makes it a decadent dessert cake. Love it!❤️

Excellent rich, moist cake. I couldnt find 62% chocolate but used half 50% and half 76% and it was fine. Lovely rich, chocolate taste. Took maybe 45 minutes in the oven, but not more. The ganache was also excellent and managed to get some of those ganache-dribbles down the side, so it looked as good as it tasted,

The best chocolate cake I have ever made. I don't see myself making any other from now. My son helped bake it and despite measurements being a little (a lot?) off, and not being able to source the 62% chocolate (I used 72% instead), the cake was faultless - if I do say so myself. As per other reviews, it took longer to cook than the recipe stated by my oven generally does.

This cake is amazing. I have made it 4 times in the last month, once for my birthday, and three times for other's special occasions. Its been delicious everytime, a rich indulgent mud cake. It took about 20 minutes longer than stated in the recipe in my oven, my oven is always slow.
