Hello Chocolate Lovers
We recognise that New Zealand is going through a really tough time right now, and we’re just trying to help a little with some Good Honest Chocolate.
We understand that the critical areas of need at the moment are:
- Front line healthcare organisations
- Food Banks
- Vulnerable and isolated elderly
- Those exposed to family violence
- Mental wellbeing and resilience
So we are looking for organisations (please no individuals due to essential parcel constraints) that operate in the above critical areas of need.
They need to be classified as an essential service, and open now.
We won’t be able to help every entity nominated in the registry, but with your help, we can at least do some good right now to some of them. Our team here have sent over 350 parcels so far, and are continuing to send out at least 40 parcels per week.
FAQs
How are Whittaker’s ensuring packages are delivered safely to the nominated organisations?
We have implemented stringent policies to ensure the health and safety of our distribution staff and package recipients in line with Government recommendations.
Can I nominate myself or my family?
If you or your family member work at an essential business or service, we encourage you to nominate the entire organisation. We are gifting packages to critical organisations, not individuals. This means we can provide a little bit of comfort to as many people as we can, while minimising physical contact.
When will the packages be delivered?
Please be aware that we are operating with a reduced team in order to work safely. We can’t promise we’ll get chocolate to everyone, but we want to do our best and do our bit. We’ll deliver a little bit of chocolate comfort to as many critical organisations as we can, prioritising our healthcare legends first, while ensuring the all packages are delivered safely. Unfortunately, we’re unable to deliver to a PO Box.
How long are you running this for?
You can nominate your Lockdown Legend throughout April. We’ll let you know if these dates get extended.
Is Whittaker’s considered an essential business?
Yes - the government has advised that "any entity involved in the packaging, production and processing of food and beverage products, whether for domestic consumption or export” is considered an essential business. You can visit the government’s official COVID-19 website for more detail. We have put additional measures in place for the health and safety of our people, so that we can keep our production going and continue to supply supermarkets, alongside other essential services.
